I really wanted to find something in packaging but I couldn’t find a lot of impressive stuff. Take what you can with this!

I like it so much because it’s straight foward and in your face. I didn’t have to search through the web site to find the latest information or articles in and about the zine. It’s interactive with fan base as well; straight away I noticed an offer for an internship which is something I am very interested in right now. 

2. Second web site is great because it is business orientated. As graphic designers, I think we get wrapped up in the new and cool and what our art looks like, especially now in our lives while we are still studying design and really want to build our style. What we forget to think about is what’s going on in the business world of graphic design:

*graphicdefine.org is AWESOME as far as getting into the minds of the professionals. There are excerpts from world known graphic designers who publish books about the minds of designers and the business of graphic design. There are articles on how to deal with clients, how to understand what you are trying to sell as a designer, and other pointers that really have nothing to do with graphic design, like articles about the environment, i.e.”how to keep your office green” 

3. The third website it’s sort of cool and interesting, I didn’t like how I could only view the zine as a pdf. and the school’s computers wouldn’t let me load the zines but the point behind the website is really popular right now. The website is: http://revolutionart.publicistas.org/

I’m still a little confused about this site, only because when I tried to pull up the photos of the “background design” the picture didn’t expand, like it wasn’t properly sized, meaning that the guy who made the site is probably an amateur, and at our fragile state we don’t need to be tossed in the hands of one of those. But I can’t help but advise this site because, from what I saw, there were tons of really beautiful graphics, and links to other graphic sources.

I really like this site and will probably be visiting it in the near future for this up coming project and for future use. It’s really well made and has a lot of beautiful background graphics to chose from. That’s all I can really say about that, except for go check it out.

Now, my taste changes monthly, but a few artists have caught my eye recently:

#1. Liz Lomax: lizlomax.com

Wheeew this girl is good. she defines a true 3D illustrator, actually she is one of the firsts. First she draws up a sketch of the artist. Then she molds some wire and covers the wire with skulpty..after that she paints the model then takes pictures to play with in photoshop. You might have seen some of her work, she does work for rock stars and for high up magazines. She is most def. my roll model.

#2. Alex Turvey: AlexTurvey.com

I came across this guy randomly and I have to say he is interesting. I always thought my drawings were kind of creepy and unique but fun. I really haven’t seen anyone with the same sort of flare, but this guy nails it. I love his sculptures or found object collages. He does work for bright eyes and for companies like “ford”. He is just well rounded and he doesn’t have to change his sick style for anyone. That’s what makes him so profound to me.

It’s Important as graphic designers, media designers, animators, any business that’s relevant to the daily use of the internet, computer, computer software to CONSTANTLY KEEP UPDATED, or it’s just pointless to be in that field. To be a lagger is just suicide and unemployment, especially in graphic design. Web 2.0 (as pointed out in the chart below *) WILL proceed onto a greater and freer form of internet and we (students, teachers, designers) should be hot on its tracks, or at least try to be. I have to admit, it’s hard to keep up with adobe, can you believe CS4 is already out? I feel like I finally bought C3?!
